Through an app on your phone, the 412 Food Rescue program allows volunteers to become the key connection between businesses donating food and the agencies in our area serving food to those in need. \u201cWe kind of say it\u2019s a DoorDash for good,\u201d Cholodofsky said.\u201cIt\u2019s a surplus — good food. And often times, it\u2019s produce that has a quick expiration date. And families, when they’re stressed, they suffer too. So this little bit of food security helps.\u201dIn 2024, 412 Food Rescue volunteers delivered 4.7 million pounds of food around the Pittsburgh-area through the help of a people-powered app. Over the past 10 years, the organization helped deliver 25 million pounds of rescued food in Western Pennsylvania.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
