Three people were injured when nearly two dozen shots were fired at a North Philadelphia home Wednesday morning, police said.<\/p>\n
Police said the shooting occurred inside and outside a home around 10 a.m. on the 2800 block of North 20th Street. Two women and a man were riddled with bullets.<\/p>\n
Authorities said a 49-year-old woman was shot 11 times and a 29-year-old man was shot three times in the leg. They were both taken to a local hospital in stable condition.<\/p>\n
A 27-year-old woman who was shot six times was also taken to the hospital in critical condition.<\/p>\n
The shooting left neighbors shaken and raised broader concerns about gun violence and safety in the community.<\/p>\n
“It’s a tragedy,” a relative of the victims said.<\/p>\n
The relative asked not to be identified. She said she arrived at the scene after the shooting and saw bullet casings and blood on the street.<\/p>\n
“Bullet casings, blood. That’s pretty much all I gotta say,” she said. “The streets of Philadelphia. We need help. We need some help. I just hope that everybody recovers.”<\/p>\n
For some residents, the violence is frightening. For others, it has become an all-too-familiar part of life in the neighborhood.<\/p>\n
“It’s not surprising,” Arlacey Chambers, who has lived in the neighborhood for eight years, said. “You witness people get shot all the time.”<\/p>\n
Chambers said she has witnessed gun violence before, including a shooting at a nearby store.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Despite those experiences, she said residents continue to work to maintain a sense of community.<\/p>\n
“We try to keep it clean, we try to keep it organized,” she said. “You just never know.”<\/p>\n
For Elyce Rivera, the threat of gun violence is concerning because of her three children, ages 14, 8 and 3.<\/p>\n
“It’s kind of like alarming, honestly,” Rivera said.<\/p>\n
Rivera said the possibility of gunfire puts her family on edge.<\/p>\n
“That’s scary because my husband is outside all the time as well,” she said. “Bullets have no names on them, have no names on them.”<\/p>\n
Police have not released details about what led to the shooting or said whether anyone has been taken into custody.<\/p>\n
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and contact police.<\/p>\n
