As a new 4-H year began on Oct. 1, families across Lackawanna County have an opportunity to invest in the future of their children and their community.

4-H has long been recognized as a program that helps young people develop the skills, confidence and character needed to become active, engaged citizens. Whether a child is interested in animals, science, public speaking, leadership, community service or the arts, 4-H provides hands-on learning experiences that help youth grow into capable and caring adults.

A new year, a new you: Join 4-H today

The start of a new 4-H year is the perfect time for young people to challenge themselves, discover new interests and make lifelong friendships. Through club meetings, workshops, community service projects, camps and county events, members gain valuable life skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

One of the greatest benefits of 4-H is its focus on leadership development. Members learn how to speak confidently in front of groups, organize projects, serve on committees and work together to achieve common goals. These experiences help youth build self-confidence while preparing them for future careers and community involvement.

4-H also teaches teamwork and responsibility. Members learn to collaborate with others, respect different perspectives, and take ownership of their projects. From caring for animals to leading a community service initiative, youth develop practical skills that will serve them throughout their lives.

Lackawanna County 4-H is committed to helping build a stronger community by empowering youth to become leaders and positive role models. Through volunteerism, service projects and educational opportunities, 4-H members make a meaningful difference in their neighborhoods while developing a sense of pride and belonging.

As we begin a new program year, we invite families to consider the many opportunities available through 4-H. Whether you are a returning member or someone looking to try something new, there is a place for everyone in 4-H.
