The event will be held October 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Erie City Hall, located at 626 State St.

Organizers say community members can drop off unwanted medications anonymously. No identification is required, and participants will not be asked any questions.

Officials note that several items will not be accepted, including syringes, sharps, and illegal drugs. Liquid medications must remain sealed in their original containers. Vape pens and e-cigarette devices will also be accepted but only if their batteries have been removed.

In addition to medication disposal, free naloxone and drug disposal kits will be available to the public.

The nationwide take-back initiative is designed to help prevent prescription drug misuse and reduce the risk of medications falling into the wrong hands. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the event to safely clear unused or expired medications from their homes.
