ALLENTOWN, Pa. \u2013 During its Thursday night meeting, Allentown School District\u2019s board of directors addressed bomb threats that have plagued one of its high schools this week.<\/p>\n

Thursday marked the third consecutive day that William Allen High School has received a bomb threat.<\/p>\n

School board President Andrene Brown-Nowell described the incidents as “very disheartening.”<\/p>\n

Brown-Nowell cited recent district accomplishments and added that, in her opinion, the district was on the right track.<\/p>\n

“It’s challenging,” she continued. “When you feel like you’re doing the best that you can…and then things like this happen, and the fingers are always pointed this way, it’s hard.”<\/p>\n

Brown-Nowell commended administrators and colleagues for their work ethic. She added that it’s difficult to ascertain why incidents such as these are occurring.<\/p>\n

Officials say this is the seventh threat in 2026 in the Allentown School District, with six of those happening at William Allen.<\/p>\n

“Something is happening where our children are calling in these fake bomb threats and are disrupting the school day,” she said. “…When I’m talking to the students they are just as tired of this mess as we are. They want to be in their school. They want to be educated. They do not feel unsafe. They just want to continue with their learning experience.”<\/p>\n

Brown-Nowell then made a request.<\/p>\n

“Please don’t look at our Allen High School community and group everyone as the same thing,” she said.<\/p>\n

She later described Allen students as “some of the most brilliant kids that I’ve met.” Brown-Nowell added Allen students are “happy,” “engaged” and “locked in” when it comes to academic pursuits.<\/p>\n

The president added that in every school district, there are few kids who “have lost their way and are going through something.”<\/p>\n

“I can’t even point my fingers at the kids doing these things,” Brown-Nowell said. “Sometimes there are things going on behind the scenes that we don’t understand.”<\/p>\n

As of Thursday night, three children were facing charges in connection with two of the three incidents that occurred this week.<\/p>\n
