The space has since been transformed, but Holmes is returning there to sell the collection of a longtime customer who trusted him with what amounted to a major piece of his life.

“Basically, he trusted me to just take it and sell it,” Holmes said. “You’re entrusted with a major, major, major portion of my life.”

Glazier spent decades in Allentown public life, serving as city controller, a member of City Council and a member of the Allentown School Board.

Shortly before his death, Holmes said Glazier sent him an email asking whether he would take the collection, sell it, and donate the proceeds to charities Glazier had selected.

“Shortly before his passing, he sent me an email saying, you know, would you be willing to basically take the collection and sell it for me and donate to these charities that were outlined,” Holmes said.

The proceeds are expected to benefit the Allentown Public Library, Fund to Benefit Children and the Jewish Family Fund.

The collection also offers a glimpse into Glazier away from public office.

Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk, a longtime friend of Glazier’s, said Glazier’s taste in music reflected both his intellectual curiosity and his emotional side.

“Jeff was a thinker, and he liked to do the big thinks on long records,” Tuerk said. “But he also had an emotional side to him that was definitely present in the music that he listened to.”

Tuerk said Glazier also inspired him to put a record player in his mayoral office.

One album Tuerk associates with Glazier, however, is memorable partly because Glazier did not particularly like it.

Tuerk recalled showing Glazier a Charles Mingus record he thought would be a perfect fit for his friend.

“I would have thought this would be a Jeff Glazier classic,” Tuerk said, before recalling Glazier’s reaction: “Eh, it’s not for me.”

For Holmes, selling Glazier’s collection carries a sense of coming full circle.

After spending nearly three decades helping people find records at Double Decker, he is once again sending music out of the same space — this time on behalf of a customer who wanted the collection to continue doing good after his death.

“The music and then the money lives on,” Holmes said. “People leave with the music, and then a lot of people get helped through the charities.”

The sale will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the former Double Decker Records location in Allentown.

Copyright 2026 Maranatha Broadcasting Co., Inc..
