The prices in adjoining states offer some relief, especially a stone’s throw away in Wilmington, Del., where a price plunge continues: $3.89 per gallon, down 14.4 cents for the week ending Sunday. That came after a 19.9 cents per gallon downturn the week before.

And, in New Jersey the price per gallon was down 7.0 cents per gallon on average to $4.15.

The national average price of gasoline was unchanged in the last week at $4.24 per gallon, according to GasBuddy. The national average is down 22.3 cents per gallon from a month ago and $1.24 higher than a year ago.

The national average price of diesel increased 4.0 cents for the week to $6.34 per gallon.

“Average gasoline prices fell in a majority of states over the last week,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “Diesel edged modestly higher nationally, and with the national average for gasoline likely to remain above $4 per gallon and diesel above $6 heading into the U.S. election, the relief motorists and policymakers have been hoping for remains elusive, even as states have moved to cut fuel taxes and the Trump administration has pulled virtually every lever available.”

Gas prices continue small but positive downward moves for drivers in the Philadelphia market.
