The University community is invited to attend a Veterans Day Prayer Service on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at the Veterans and ROTC Lounge, Hyland Hall, first floor.\u00a0The noon service is a collaborative effort of Campus Ministry, the Student Veterans Organization (SVO) and ROTC.<\/p>\n
Guest speaker U.S. Army Lt. Col. Kyle A. Surridge will offer reflections. Surridge\u00a0joined the University this summer as a professor of Military Science.\u00a0The Moosic native\u00a0celebrated 19 years of service with the U.S. Army in May and recently returned to the area after a tour in South Korea.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Campus Community Invited To Support Local Veterans With Sock Donation<\/p>\n
In advance of Veterans Day, the SVO will assist with a campus-wide sock donation drive initiated by University Professor Paul Pearson, a faculty specialist in the Department of\u00a0Physics and Engineering. Pearson and his family will lead the drive to benefit local Veterans residing at the St. Francis Commons, 504 Penn Avenue in Scranton.<\/p>\n
Sock donations can be made in designated bins at the following locations:<\/p>\n
* Hyland Hall, floor one, near the elevators,
* DeNaples Center, floor two, near the elevators
* Loyola Science Center, second floor, outside room\u00a0211, near the Department of\u00a0Physics and Engineering. <\/p>\n
