former hospital property<\/a> in 2025 for $600,000 from the bankrupt Prospect Medical Holdings and has been working to prepare for the demolition of the facility.<\/p>\nAt Wednesday\u2019s school board committee meeting, Marvin Lee, director of operations for the district, gave an update about the 265,000-square-foot building that sits on 8 acres.<\/p>\n
Lee said the sale of mechanical items, generators, chillers from the former hospital brought in about $175,000. In addition a company will take a CT scanning machine and give the district $20,000.<\/p>\n
Lee said that $300,000 in fixtures, plumbing, heating and general maintenance supplies and equipment have been reproposed. Over 40 pieces of furniture including desks, chairs and benches and a podium from the former hospital went to district schools and offices.<\/p>\n
A bid was put out for other used furniture, however there were no takers and they were disposed of.<\/p>\n
The district expect to be finished removing environmental hazards such as asbestos by mid-November. The business office is working with the architect and engineers on plans for the demolition. No date has been set.<\/p>\n
DCMH was closed in 2022, the second domino to fall in the eventual collapsing of Crozer Health by Prospect that ended with the shuttering of Crozer-Chester Medical Center in May 2025. Delaware County is rebounding from that health care-provider disaster and will be for years.<\/p>\n
