SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY, Pa. \u2014<\/p>\n
Republican state Sen. Greg Rothman is seeking another term representing Pennsylvania\u2019s 34th State Senate District, which includes all of Perry County and parts of Cumberland and Dauphin counties. <\/p>\n
A former U.S. Marine and business leader, Rothman said he has served in the Senate since 2021 and highlighted his legislative record, including 16 bills he said had become law. Before joining the Senate, he served in the state House and led RSR Realtors, a real estate company based in Lemoyne.<\/p>\n
At a WGAL debate with Democratic challenger Nathan Wood, Rothman opposed a statewide moratorium on data centers, arguing that communities should decide whether to host them. He said data centers support services people use every day and that Pennsylvania needs more electricity to meet demand. Wood disputed Rothman\u2019s position and accused him of advancing developers\u2019 interests; Rothman rejected Wood\u2019s claims and said local communities should make the decisions.<\/p>\n
On gas prices, Rothman said he co-sponsored a bill to eliminate the state\u2019s gas tax and argued that increasing domestic production and refining could help lower costs. He opposed raising the minimum wage, saying lawmakers should focus instead on growing wages through economic development, business opportunities and apprenticeships. On education, Rothman said funding should be judged by results and pointed to career and technical education as a way to prepare students for the workforce.
