Tensions flared during a Millcreek Township meeting as contract disputes between the township and two local volunteer fire departments took center stage.

Leaders from the West Ridge and Belle Valley volunteer fire departments addressed township officials, calling for improved communication and faster resolutions to ongoing disagreements. The departments voiced concerns about proposed funding changes, new policies, and the growing challenges of recruiting and retaining volunteer firefighters.

Belle Valley Fire Department expressed concern that a loss of township funding could have serious consequences for the department’s future, warning that the organization’s operations could be at risk if financial support is eliminated.

Township officials, meanwhile, stressed their commitment to maintaining public safety and continuing open discussions with all fire service partners. They emphasized that no final decisions have been made and that conversations are ongoing.

One of the key issues discussed was a recent recommendation to remove funding for Belle Valley Fire Department. However, township leaders have not yet acted on that recommendation.

Both fire department officials and township representatives agreed on the importance of finding a solution that ensures residents continue to receive around-the-clock fire protection. As negotiations continue, both sides say they remain focused on protecting public safety while working through the outstanding contract concerns.

No final action was taken during the meeting, and discussions between Millcreek Township and the volunteer fire departments are expected to continue in the coming weeks.

Tensions flared during a Millcreek Township meeting as contract disputes between the township and two local volunteer fire…

[12
128988,136,138,137,7778,12076,294,57600
post-316329","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-erie","tag-contract-dispute","tag-erie","tag-erie-headlines","tag-erie-news","tag-fire-department","tag-millcreek-township","tag-public-safety","tag-volunteer-firefighters
["GET
