BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The holiday season can make or break things for small businesses, and a new cafe is hoping to get a boost as it opens its doors.<\/p>\n

69 News Reporter Sydney Kay was in Bethlehem with more on the opening and why supporting small shops matters.<\/p>\n

The cafe, which hand whisks ceremonial-grade matcha and offers pastries and sandwiches, is located across from the Lehigh University Bookstore, according to its website.<\/p>\n

The cafe is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.<\/p>\n

Zen Cafe co-owner Andrew Underwood said the cafe is basically a combination of his and fellow-co-owner Annabel Figueroa\u2019s favorite aspects of all the cafes they\u2019ve visited throughout the world.<\/p>\n

Underwood said in addition to high-quality matcha, the cafe offers coffee from a roaster in Brooklyn. The roaster sends the cafe farm-to-table coffees within 10 days.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you come here, you\u2019re going to get the freshest coffee in the Lehigh Valley, and the most amazing matcha,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Zen Cafe<\/a> co-owner Annabel Figueroa said Bethlehem is filled with beautiful small businesses, and it\u2019s very important to support them.<\/p>\n

She said the cafe is a space where guests can come to and be mindful and relaxed.<\/p>\n

Underwood and Figueroa also own Donerds Donuts in Bethlehem.<\/p>\n

Underwood said small businesses give the communities they are in, including SouthSide Bethlehem, their unique attitude.<\/p>\n
