BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Police have charged two men they say committed three armed robberies in the city.<\/p>\n
Jeniel Rivera Gotay and Luis Vega-Gonzalez face charges, according to a news release from the Northampton County District Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
The DA\u2019s office said the men were involved in robberies at:<\/p>\n
Sunoco Quickfill and Service located at 2960 Linden Street on Nov. 2<\/p>\n
Racetrack gas station located at 2350 Linden Street on Nov. 5<\/p>\n
Sunoco Quickfill and Service located at 2960 Linden Street on Nov. 11<\/p>\n
City police said that in the Nov. 11 robbery, the men were under surveillance, and were seen going to the Sunoco Quickfill and Service around 1:30 a.m. Both men were seen running out of the store carrying bags, city police said.<\/p>\n
Police said they tried to stop a vehicle that the men got into. The vehicle then rammed into a Bethlehem police surveillance vehicle, city police said in the news release.<\/p>\n
Officers took Gotay and Vega-Gonzalez into custody after they tried to run away, police said.<\/p>\n
Police recovered a trail of cash leading from the men\u2019s vehicle to the place where they were taken into custody, according to the news release.<\/p>\n
Evidence was found in the vehicle linking both men to the robberies after officers issued a search warrant, city police said.<\/p>\n
City police said they expect to charge additional people, as an investigation continues into a number of similar armed robberies in the Lehigh Valley, stemming back to late October, including gas stations and convenience stores in Allentown, Bath, Hellertown, and Wilson Borough.<\/p>\n
Jeniel Rivera Gotay is charged with robbery and various offenses stemming from his involvement in the three Bethlehem robberies, according to city police.<\/p>\n
City police said Rivera Gotay was injured when the vehicle rammed the police vehicle and was taken to a local hospital.<\/p>\n
It is anticipated that Rivera Gotay will be arraigned shortly and bail will be set, city police said.<\/p>\n
According to police, Luis Vega-Gonzalez is also charged with robbery and related offenses stemming from his involvement in the three Bethlehem robberies.<\/p>\n
