SHILLINGTON, Pa. – Police in Shillington are investigating a bizarre shooting incident involving a dog.<\/p>\n
Just after 11 p.m. yesterday, police were dispatched to a home in the 300 block of State Street for a report of a shooting.<\/p>\n
Officers arriving on scene located a 53-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his back.<\/p>\n
According to investigators, the man told police he was cleaning a shotgun and had placed the firearm down on his bed.<\/p>\n
When the man sat down on the bed, one of his dogs jumped up onto it, allegedly causing the shotgun to discharge and strike him in the lower back.<\/p>\n
The man was transported to Reading Hospital for treatment and had to undergo surgery for his injuries. His condition is unknown at this time.<\/p>\n
