Tennis players continue their postseason with the final district championship tournament that starts Thursday morning.<\/p>\n
The District 2 Doubles Championships in Class 3A and 2A start at 9 a.m. at Kirby Park and Wilkes University. The district singles players who won gold medals, Montrose\u2019s Cara Evans and Abington Heights\u2019 Sona Hanumali, Monday are not eligible for the doubles tournament.<\/p>\n
The winners advance to the semifinals and finals that are scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m. at Kirby Park.<\/p>\n
Teams representing Lackawanna League programs earned all eight seeds for the Class 3A tournament. They will receive byes into the second round.<\/p>\n
Abington Heights\u2019 pairing of Amishi Amit and Sammy Rosenstein is the No. 1 seed. Amit finished as the runner-up to Hanumali in the singles tournament, and Rosenstein played at No. 3 singles and helped the Lady Comets to the District 2 Class 3A team championship.<\/p>\n
Valley View\u2019s team of Ella Swingle and Josie Checho earned the No. 2 seed. Abington Heights\u2019 second team of Katie Arp and Elsie Phillips, which played at No. 1 doubles all season, is seeded third. West Scranton\u2019s Nora Frounfelker and Nina Emiliani, a team that is 24-8 over the last two seasons at No. 1 doubles, are seeded fourth.<\/p>\n
Wallenpaupack\u2019s Victoria Latek-Addy Ezzo is seeded fifth after helping the Lady Buckhorns reach the District 2 Class 3A team final against Abington Heights. West Scranton\u2019s second pairing of Katie Fahey and Julia Farkaly, the two players who competed at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, is seeded sixth. North Pocono\u2019s team of Anna Clementoni and Cam Forgione is the No. 7 seed, and Delaware Valley\u2019s team of Emma Strickler and Josephine Lordi is the eighth seed.<\/p>\n
In Class 2A, Scranton Prep\u2019s two semifinalists in the singles tournament will join forces. Lily Lengyel, the runner-up, and Emma Cuck earned the No. 1 seed.<\/p>\n
Montrose\u2019s pairing of Anna Evans, a semifinalist and Cara Evans\u2019 sister, and Erin Tillotson, the No. 3 singles player for the Lady Meteors, is seeded second.<\/p>\n
Wyoming Seminary\u2019s team of Addison Priebe and Cece Pons is the No. 3 seed. Dallas\u2019 team of Catlin Finn and Mahi Dhol is seeded fourth.<\/p>\n
MMI Prep\u2019s team of Ava Gennetti and Mehak Manzour is seeded fifth. Scranton Prep\u2019s second doubles team of Adithi Velaga and Hannah LaCoe is seeded sixth. Wyoming Area\u2019s team of Emma Kratz and Molly Kratz is the No. 7 seed, and Wyoming Seminary\u2019s team of Kate Minella and Jophie Li is the No. 8 seed.<\/p>\n
