ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Starting on Thursday night, more than a million lights will be illuminating the IronPigs’ home field.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“Basically anything and everything that makes Christmas and the holidays the holidays has inhabited Coca-Cola Park,” said Sam Jellinek, manger of broadcasting and media relations for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It’s the Lehigh Valley IronPigs Illumination, now in its second year, you won’t find any angels in the outfield.<\/p>\n
“It’s funny, the angel wings are actually adorned on the brick wall for pictures,” Jellinek said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But you will find nearly 1.5 million lights, up from a million last year.<\/p>\n
“So you know about a 50 percent increase, not too bad,” said Jellinek.\u00a0<\/p>\n
And you can see those lights by taking a ride in the train, riding around the park in the hayride, or simply by strolling around.<\/p>\n
“Wherever your heart takes you. Wherever the wind blows,” Jellinek said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On Thursday evening, the wind is blowing, and luckily they have more ways than ever to warm up.<\/p>\n
“That’s actually a huge improvement that we made,” Jellinek said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In addition to igloos and cabanas which can be rented, as well as fire pits, another large heated tent was added.<\/p>\n
“So we took the beer garden area, knocked down one of the fences,” Jellinek said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
With food and hot drinks for purchase, and fun characters to visit with.\u00a0<\/p>\n
