Bellefonte, Pa. \u2014 A man is sitting in the Centre County Jail with no bail after he allegedly caused a crash that led a 12 year old to be airlifted from the scene.<\/p>\n

On Nov. 8 around 3 p.m.,\u00a0Spring Township Police Department officers were dispatched to a four-vehicle accident at the 800 block of Pleasant View Boulevard.<\/p>\n

The investigation revealed that\u00a0Esmanbek Umarov,\u00a025, from State College was driving a Mercedes SUV and allegedly tried to pass in a no passing zone.<\/p>\n

When officers got to the scene, they found multiple vehicles with severe damage on the roadway. In one of the vehicles was an adult female driver and a 12-year-old child in the passenger seat. Both those occupants sustained injuries in the crash.<\/p>\n

The 12 year old was flown from the scene to Geisinger Danville for serious injuries. The woman was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center with moderate injuries.<\/p>\n

The Centre County crash reconstruction team, as well as other investigating officers, determined that\u00a0when Umarov tried to pass in the no passing zone, he struck the vehicle occupied by the child and woman head on in the wrong lane.<\/p>\n

Our investigation has revealed thus far that the male was driving impaired. Both alcohol and controlled substances are factor in the incident.<\/p>\n

There were also two other vehicles that were damaged as a result of the main collision.<\/p>\n

Charges against Umarov were filed on Nov. 8, including aggravated assault while DUI, DUI general impairment, recklessly endangering another person, and summary driving offenses.<\/p>\n

Umarov is currently housed at the Centre County correctional facility, pending a preliminary arraignment currently scheduled for Nov. 19.<\/p>\n
