An Exeter Township resident was taken to Reading Hospital after suffering injuries in a house fire Wednesday night, officials said.<\/p>\n
The man called 911 to report the fire about 8:15 p.m. in the 400 block of East Baumstown Road, said Matt Eshenaur, deputy chief of Exeter Township Fire Department.<\/p>\n
Crews encountered fire on the front porch. The lone occupant of the home was outside.<\/p>\n
Crews quickly put out the bulk of the flames before entering and finding additional fire on the first floor, Eshenaur said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, firefighters administered first aid to the victim before transferring him to medics from an ambulance crew, he said. It wasn\u2019t clear how he suffered the injuries.<\/p>\n
Information on the victim\u2019s medical condition wasn\u2019t immediately available. Eshenaur said his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.<\/p>\n
In addition to fire damage, the house sustained smoke damage throughout, Eshenaur said. A damage estimate was unavailable.<\/p>\n
