{"id":33744,"date":"2025-11-14T04:33:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-14T04:33:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/33744\/"},"modified":"2025-11-14T04:33:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-14T04:33:07","slug":"bensalem-mayor-speaks-out-on-re-election-win-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/33744\/","title":{"rendered":"Bensalem Mayor Speaks Out On Re-Election Win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA \u2014 Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo \u2014 Bucks County&#8217;s longest-serving mayor \u2014 spoke out about his re-election victory in last week&#8217;s general election.<\/p>\n<p>The 88-year-old mayor held off a challenge from Democrat Stephanie Gonzalez Ferrandez, a Bensalem school director, to win his election and extend his term of running the township for 32 years.<\/p>\n<p>But while DiGirolamo won, the township&#8217;s Republican stronghold slipped as three Democrats won council seats to take a 3-2 majority on the board.<\/p>\n<p>The mayor posted a video on the Bensalem Township Facebook page to speak to residents about the election victory.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;I want to thank the record-number of voters who came out on Election Day,&#8221; DiGirolamo said. &#8220;I am truly humbled by the way I was voted back in. As I said during the campaign, I&#8217;m not done yet. I&#8217;m really looking forward to working with Council as we have done in the past to make Bensalem a great place to live and a great place to raise a family. Hopefully, as a township, we can continue all of the great things we have accomplished in the future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/patch.com\/pennsylvania\/bensalem\/bensalem-democrats-accomplish-sweep-not-seen-decades\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Democrats in Bensalem accomplished a sweep this election<\/a> that hadn&#8217;t been done in years.<\/p>\n<p>Ed Tokmajian, Jesse Sloane, and Joseph Wenzel Jr. won council seats. Meanwhile, four Democrats were elected to the school board: Kate Pascucci, Leann Hart, Rachel Fingles, and Rodger Allen.<\/p>\n<p>Sloane, Wenzel Jr., and Tokmajian will be replacing GOP Councilwomen Stacey Champion and Michelle Benitez.
