Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman is receiving care at a Pittsburgh hospital after suffering a fall near his home, according to his office.<\/p>\n
\u201cUpon evaluation, it was established he had a ventricular fibrillation flare-up that led to Senator Fetterman feeling light-headed, falling to the ground and hitting his face with minor injuries,\u201d his spokesperson said in a statement Thursday.<\/p>\n
Fetterman, who fell during a morning walk near his Braddock home, was taken to the hospital \u201cout of an abundance of caution,\u201d and is doing well and undergoing routine observation, the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe has opted to stay so doctors can fine-tune his medication regimen,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n
In the statement, Fetterman remarked: \u201cIf you thought my face looked bad before, wait until you see it now!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
It was not immediately clear how long the senator was expected to remain under doctors\u2019 care.<\/p>\n
Lawmakers are in their home districts after passing a funding bill to reopen the government earlier this week, ending a historic shutdown. The Senate is expected to return to Washignton next week.<\/p>\n
Republican Sen. Dave McCormick of Pennsylvania said in a statement that Fettermen is \u201con the mend\u201d and that his wife, Dina, had reached out to the Democratic senator\u2019s wife, Gisele.<\/p>\n
\u201cI reached out to Senator Fetterman and Dina has spoken to Gisele. John is a tough Pittsburgher and is already on the mend. We are thinking of him, Gisele, and their entire family \u2013 looking forward to seeing my good friend in the coming days,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
