Democratic Sen. John Fetterman\u00a0was hospitalized after he reportedly fell following a heart issue near his home in Braddock, Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n
Fetterman\u2019s spokesperson released a statement stating that the fall happened the morning of Thursday, November 13, 2025, and, out of an abundance of caution, he was transported to a hospital in Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n
The statement read in part: <\/p>\n
“Upon evaluation, it was established he had a ventricular fibrillation flare-up that led to Senator Fetterman feeling light-headed, falling to the ground and hitting his face with minor injuries. <\/p>\n
Senator Fetterman had this to say: \u2018If you thought my face looked bad before, wait until you see it now!\u2019 <\/p>\n
He is doing well and receiving routine observation at the hospital. <\/p>\n
He has opted to stay so doctors can fine-tune his medication regimen. Senator Fetterman is grateful for the EMTs, doctors, and nurses who are providing his care.”<\/p>\n
Fetterman, who\u00a0suffered a stroke\u00a0in 2022, has disclosed that he was diagnosed with\u00a0cardiomyopathy\u00a0and a heart condition called\u00a0atrial fibrillation.<\/p>\n
Cardiomyopathy can impede blood flow and potentially cause heartbeats so irregular they can be fatal. Atrial fibrillation can cause blood to pool inside a pocket of the heart, allowing clots to form. Clots then can break off, get stuck and cut off blood, causing a stroke.<\/p>\n
Fetterman has said the stroke was atrial fibrillation. He underwent surgery after the stroke to implant a pacemaker with a defibrillator to manage the condition.<\/p>\n
Senator Dave McCormick shared a statement following Fetterman’s hospitalization, saying in part: <\/p>\n
\u201cI reached out to Senator Fetterman and Dina has spoken to Gisele. John is a tough Pittsburgher and is already on the mend.
