Washington Ave. at about 9:20 a.m. and remained on scene for about two hours, according to Scranton Fire Chief John Judge.<\/p>\n<p>Judge described damage to the single family residence as \u201cmoderate\u201d and \u201crepairable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said the fire was caused by an electrical problem, with fire and smoke causing damage to the inside of the structure.<\/p>\n<p>The sole occupant of the home, a man, was not home at the time of the fire.<\/p>\n<p>Judge said the man, who he believed would be only temporarily displaced, received assistance from the Red Cross.<\/p>\n<p>The house didn\u2019t have smoke detectors, according to Judge. He reminds residents installing smoke detectors in their home is a way to save lives and property.<\/p>\n<p>Every residence, Judge said, should have the appropriate amount of smoke detectors installed.<\/p>\n<p>The Scranton Fire department runs a free smoke detector installation program for city residences.
