The Carson City School District will host a\u00a0Family Literacy Night\u00a0at its quarterly\u00a0Community Connections\u00a0event\u00a0Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Carson High School in the library. The district\u2019s Reading and Literacy specialists will lead the event and connect parents and families with tools and resources.<\/p>\n

The interactive discussion about the Science of Reading, the Power of Libraries, Book Clubs and the Home-school Connection, will connect parents and families with resources for each grade level. Additionally, discover what kids are reading at school, explore great books for every age and pick up simple tips to build reading skills at home.<\/p>\n

The family event is open to all elementary, middle school and high school students and families. An interpreter will also be available. There is no cost for the event. Additionally, enjoy a free dinner and desserts\u00a0(first come, first served) from 5:30-6:00 p.m. The information session focused on literacy will be from 6:00-7:30 p.m. The district looks forward to a productive evening collaborating with parents and families in support of every child\u2019s success.<\/p>\n

The purpose of these quarterly Community Connections meetings with school officials is to help families better support their children\u2019s academic development by providing information, resources and hands-on strategies connected to their education. Additionally, the district gathers feedback from community members on how the school district\u2019s strategic plan is performing and suggest ideas and systems to better help meet the goals, objectives and strategies of that plan.<\/p>\n

Individuals planning to attend are welcome to share this invitation with colleagues, friends and neighbors who might be interested in joining the discussion. Community members and families may park along the curb in front of Carson High School and enter the building at the main entrance near the flagpole or park in the north parking lot and enter through the north foyer.<\/p>\n
