PHILADELPHIA \u2013 It was a tough night for Detroit’s high-powered offense Sunday as the Lions managed just nine points in a 16-9 loss on the road to the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. It’s Detroit’s lowest point total since scoring six points on the road in a loss to Baltimore in 2023.<\/p>\n
The loss drops the Lions to 6-4 on the season and currently on the outside looking in at the NFC playoff picture after Week 11.<\/p>\n
Detroit had the No. 2 scoring offense in the NFL coming into Sunday averaging 31.4 points per game, but they found it tough sledding in cold, windy conditions at Lincoln Financial Field. Philadelphia’s No. 18 ranked defense played inspired football all night, holding Detroit to 3-for-13 on third down, 0-for-5 on fourth down and 0-for-1 in the red zone.<\/p>\n
Detroit’s defense played very well in the loss despite being put in some tough situations on three sudden possession changes in Lions territory on a Jared Goff<\/a> interception, a failed fourth-down try and a failed fake punt. Detroit’s defense gave up only six points total in those three Eagles possessions that started in Lions’ territory and kept Detroit in the contest all evening with their play. Philadelphia had just 272 yards of total offense and was 4-for-15 on third down.<\/p>\n Detroit’s only touchdown of the contest came on a 40-yard pass from Goff to wide receiver Jameson Williams<\/a>, who has now caught a touchdown in three straight games. Jake Bates<\/a> missed the long extra point try.
