Rallo, who has been dubbed the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/03\/02\/gen-zs-carrie-bradshaw-might-be-this-24-year-old\/\" class=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gen Z Carrie Bradshaw<\/a>,\u201d and \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/alumni.umich.edu\/michigan-alum\/meet-gen-zs-big-sister\/\" class=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">internet\u2019s big sister<\/a>,\u201d rose to popularity on TikTok during the height of the Covid pandemic for her content making \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@elirallo\/video\/7226069062084775214\" class=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">snack jars<\/a>.\u201d More recently she has gained an influx of followers for her content centered around giving young women something they can never get enough of \u2014 advice.<\/p>\n<p>During her talk and Q&amp;A for Pitt students, Rallo remained authentic to the style of advice that has gained her over 1 million followers on TikTok \u2014 discussing all things college, relationships, friendships and growing up.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rallo\u2019s appearance at Pitt comes just one month after her second book, essay collection <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theelirallo.com\/does-anyone-else-feel-this-way\" class=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cDoes Anyone Else Feel This Way?\u201d<\/a> was released. The book, an \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.harpercollins.com\/products\/does-anyone-else-feel-this-way-eli-rallo?variant=43671983816738\" class=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">instant New York Times Best Seller<\/a>,\u201d reflects on navigating early adulthood and what she refers to as the \u201cquarter-life\u201d crisis.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The event was moderated by Cassidy Urbancic, a senior communication rhetoric and public and professional writing major, who serves as the Public Relations director of Pitt Program Council. Urbancic spent the majority of the event asking Rallo questions about her book, her academic journey and her life as a content creator. The last part of the talk was opened up for student-submitted questions, with questions such as \u201cwhat <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1327801\/\" class=\"external\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Glee<\/a> character do you resonate with?\u201d and \u201cwhat made you want to write books?\u201d wrapping up the discussion.<\/p>\n<p>According to Urbancic, the themes of community and identity in young adulthood discussed in Rallo\u2019s recent book align with Pitt Program Council\u2019s mission to connect Pitt students.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRallo\u2019s book, \u2018Does Anyone Else Feel This Way?\u2019 speaks right to the hearts of students. She makes sure students know their anxieties and worries about the future are felt by everyone,\u201d Urbancic said. \u201cThe goal of Pitt Program Council is to bring people together and Rallo makes sure students know that \u2018everyone else feels this way.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other students attending the event echoed this same sentiment. Amber Seery, a senior finance and business information systems major, said Pitt Program Council\u2019s dedication to providing students with spaces to connect with one another and explore their interests is an important aspect of student life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that events like this are so important to have access to on campus,\u201d Seery said. \u201cPPC\u2019s commitment to providing students with exposure to the arts through events like this brings people together through shared experiences in a way that allows them to connect beyond just the everyday classes and work we have to do, which I appreciate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rallo\u2019s visit drew students with a wide range of interests.
