Former Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a> safety Juan Thornhill <\/a>is signing to the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad. This comes exactly a week after the Steelers cut Thornhill from their active roster and he cleared waivers. <\/p>\n

Thornhill, who was signed by the team this offseason on a one-year deal, has been worked out of the safety rotation. <\/p>\n

When the Steelers needed a backup free safety, it was Chuck Clark, not Thornhill who took over at that position once they lost to the Green Bay Packers. Thornhill struggled in that game, and was relegated to special teams snaps moving forward.<\/p>\n

Over the course of the season, Thornhill played in nine games with one start and had 38 tackles for the team.<\/p>\n

Before his stint with the Steelers, Thornhill played most of his NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Browns. The Browns released him during the offseason, allowing the Steelers to sign him.<\/p>\n

Thornhill played most of his time as a single-high safety with the Browns. He will play that more so with the Steelers in their three safety packages as well. It will allow Minkah Fitzpatrick to move around the formation. <\/p>\n

Thornhill had just four pass deflections and zero interceptions in his two seasons with the Browns. Before that, he had eight interceptions and 20 pass deflections with the Chiefs in four years.<\/p>\n
