The church’s Fox Hall was crammed with a wide assortment of items ranging from linens and purses to holiday ornaments.

Pastor Steve Davis and St. John’s media director Bill Castello said they were happy with the layout of the social hall, the wide variety of items for sale, the fellowship of the volunteers working the bazaar and the amount of attendees roaming around seeking deals on items they desire.

The tables were all appropriately marked announcing what type of products were placed there. This made navigating the hall efficient for attendees. The kitchen offered burgers, hot dogs, pulled pork and hamburger barbecue, beef vegetable soup, chili, snacks, soda, coffee and water.

Bob Czekner, of Catasauqua, and Tom Moyer, of Whitehall, were feeling chipper, bantering with attendees as they handled the cash sales for the kitchen.

The holiday decor tables were staffed by Gracie Funches, of Whitehall, and Karen Stoisits, of Coplay. They cheerfully greeted customers seeking holiday items.

Whitehall resident Rita Keeler browsed the aisles with many other attendees. She noted she lives close to the church and attends all of its events.

Adam Rarich, of Orefield, staffed the kids’ toys and games tables. He described himself as a happy member of the church and enjoys the fellowship the church provides.

“We are like a family,” he said.

The housewares tables were staffed by Jackie Maxon, a former Texan who now resides in Emmaus. She provided a smile and excellent customer service to attendees.

One woman who had two large durable bags with handles that were filled with items was kiddingly asked, “Are you moving in (to the church)?”

“I could, but I found a lot of bargains I need,” she said.

It was announced that anyone who returns to the bazaar 1:45-2 p.m. could fill a grocery bag with any unsold items of their choice for only $5.

St. John’s is an active church and offers fun events throughout the year. Pastor Steve noted his online-only church membership and event attendance are growing.

There will be a movie event Dec. 6 in Fox Hall featuring the movie “Wonka.” Attendees will have a choice from a large selection of ice cream flavors and toppings while they enjoy the movie.

The church will host a bus trip to the Big Apple Dec. 13. The bus leaves St. John’s 9 a.m. and departs New York City 7 p.m. Call the church office soon for details to get a seat on the bus.

PRESS PHOTOS BY BILL LEINER JR.Bob Czekner, of Catasauqua, and Tom Moyer, of Whitehall, help out with kitchen food sales during the event.

Adam Rarich, of Orefield, staffs the toys and games tables during St. John’s United Church of Christ’s bazaar, held Nov. 8 in Fox Hall at the 575 Grape St., Whitehall, church.

Published November 19. 2025 11:08AM St. John’s United Church of Christ, 575 Grape St., Whitehall, held its bazaar…

[10
119,121,120
0":"post-38889","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-allentown","8":"tag-allentown","9":"tag-allentown-headlines","10":"tag-allentown-news
["GET
