DERRY TWP., Pa. \u2014 It\u2019s the most wonderful time of the year, and with the return of Tr\u00f6egs Independent Brewing<\/a>\u2019s Most Wonderful Beer Weekend, the season will be filled with a bit more joy for children in need.<\/p>\n Now, through Friday, Dec. 5, Tr\u00f6egs is collecting new, unwrapped toys and gifts at its brewery in Hershey. The donations will be turned over to Cocoa Packs<\/a>, a Hershey-based nonprofit that supports local children.<\/p>\n And with this being the season of giving, those who donate will get something in return \u2014 a free Tr\u00f6egs\u00a0Pennsylvania Lager glass,\u00a0while supplies last.<\/p>\n The donation drive serves as a kickoff for Tr\u00f6egs\u2019 annual Most Wonderful Beer Weekend, which will get underway on Thursday, Nov. 20. The four-day event celebrates the return of the brewery\u2019s holiday ale, Mad Elf, which features five varieties of sweet-and-sour cherries and Pennsylvania wildflower honey.<\/p>\n \u201cMad Elf captures so many things about the holidays for so many people,\u201d said\u00a0Chris Trogner, a co-founding brother of the brewery.<\/p>\n The event will conclude on Sunday, Nov. 23, with the inaugural Holiday Makers Market. From noon until 5 p.m., visitors can browse and purchase gifts, decorations, and other hand-crafted items from more than a dozen local artisans.<\/p>\n Additional activities will include photos with Santa Claus and children\u2019s crafts.<\/p>\n The brewery\u2019s charitable efforts don\u2019t stop with the toy collection. Tr\u00f6egs\u2019 third annual Perpetual Giving campaign is also underway.<\/p>\n Now through Dec. 31, the brewery will donate a portion of proceeds from the sale of its Perpetual IPA to Feeding Pennsylvania<\/a>, a network of food banks that serve the state\u2019s 67 counties, including Helping Harvest<\/a> of Berks and Schuylkill counties and Second Harvest Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley and Northeast Pennsylvania<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThe holiday season serves as a reminder of the ever increasing and real issue of food insecurity,\u201d Trogner said. \u201cWe\u2019re proud to partner with our amazing wholesalers to provide aid to Feeding Pennsylvania and local food pantries in our home state.\u201d<\/p>\n Each year, Feeding Pennsylvania\u2019s network of food banks distributes more than 237 million pounds of food to almost 3,000 agencies and food pantries across the commonwealth.<\/p>\n \u201cWe applaud Tr\u00f6egs for prioritizing food insecurity in Pennsylvania at this critical moment,\u201d said Julie Bancroft, Feeding Pennsylvania,\u2019s CEO. \u201cThis campaign exemplifies the \u2018neighbors helping neighbors\u2019 philosophy and will bolster resources for our charitable food network during this time of great need.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Since the campaign\u2019s inception in 2023, Tr\u00f6egs has donated more than $40,000 to Feeding Pennsylvania.
