{"id":39305,"date":"2025-11-20T05:08:11","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T05:08:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/39305\/"},"modified":"2025-11-20T05:08:11","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T05:08:11","slug":"tomasino-clears-waivers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/39305\/","title":{"rendered":"Tomasino Clears Waivers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Despite several ponderances across the NHL, no team submitted a claim for <a href=\"https:\/\/pittsburghhockeynow.com\/tag\/pittsburgh-penguins\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a> winger <a href=\"https:\/\/pittsburghhockeynow.com\/tag\/philip-tomasino\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Philip Tomasino<\/a> on Wednesday, and he cleared waivers at 2 p.m. EST. <\/p>\n<p>The Penguins waived Tomasino on Tuesday after the winger had just one assist in nine games this season. The team had signed him to a one-year, $1.75 million contract on July 1. The Penguins are able to bury $1.15 million of his salary cap hit in the minors. <\/p>\n<p>The team did not specifically announce Tomasino would report to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wbspenguins.com\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton Penguins<\/a>, but unless the player requests a contract termination or chooses to leave the organization, there are no alternatives. <\/p>\n<p>Last season, Tomasino scored 11 goals and 23 points in 50 games with the Penguins, who acquired him for a fourth-round pick from the Nashville Predators in November. Tomasino had one assist in 11 games with Nashville before the trade. <\/p>\n<p>Per new collective bargaining rules, the \u201cpaper transactions\u201d in which players would remain with the NHL club were ended.
