Reading officials said downtown road closures and parking restrictions will be in place for the Holiday Parade on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The parade down Penn Street will start at 10 a.m. at 11th Street and end at Second Street.<\/p>\n
Free parking will be available from 7 a.m. to 3:30pm at the South Penn Garage, 4th & Cherry Garage and 5th & Cherry lot.<\/p>\n
New this year, families are invited to a free meet and greet with Santa from 1 to 3:00 p.m. at the 5th & Penn Bank Building. Activities include a festive photo display, hot chocolate and cookies, and seasonal crafts.<\/p>\n
To prepare for the parade, no parking signs will be posted Friday along the following routes:<\/p>\n
\u2022 the 200 through 1000 blocks of Penn Street.<\/p>\n
\u2022 the first block of South Second Street.<\/p>\n
\u2022 the first block of North\u00a0 Second Street.<\/p>\n
\u2022 the 200 block Cherry Street.<\/p>\n
\u2022 the first block of South 11th Street.<\/p>\n
\u2022 the first block of North 11th Street.<\/p>\n
\u2022 the 1100 block of Perkiomen Avenue.<\/p>\n
\u2022 the 1000 block of Court Street between Mulberry and North 11th streets.<\/p>\n
Motorists are advised to relocate their vehicles by 6 a.m. Saturday, as traffic enforcement and towing will begin at 6:30 a.m.<\/p>\n
At 7 a.m.,\u00a0traffic through City Park will be closed to all except parade participants.<\/p>\n
The following streets will be temporarily closed to traffic:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Rose Garden Road. in City Park.<\/p>\n
\u2022 the 1100 block of Washington Street.<\/p>\n
\u2022 the 1100 block of Perkiomen Avenue.<\/p>\n
\u2022 the 1000 block of Court Street between Mulberry and North 11th streets.<\/p>\n
\u2022 the 200 to 1000 blocks of Penn Street.<\/p>\n
\u2022 11th Street between Perkiomen Avenue and Walnut Street.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Fifth Street between Cherry and Court streets.<\/p>\n
\u2022 the 200 block of Cherry Street.<\/p>\n
\u2022 the first block of South Second Street.<\/p>\n
\u2022 the 100 block of Franklin Street.<\/p>\n
For those entering the city via the Penn Street Bridge, a detour will direct vehicles to turn left onto North Second Street, then right onto Court Street.<\/p>\n
All southbound traffic on North Second Street will be diverted to the Penn Street. Bridge. No traffic will be allowed to cross Penn Street.<\/p>\n
While Third, Fourth, Eighth and Ninth streets will remain open for northbound and southbound traffic across Penn Street, police will be stationed at intersections to facilitate crossings during parade breaks.
