Dozens of people joined LANTA’s meeting in-person and online as the transportation authority went over proposed route modifications Wednesday night.<\/p>\n
LANTA said these would need to be made because of a lack of funding from several different levels, including the state.<\/p>\n
“It looked like from this meeting they were trying to objectively and numerically cut their routes; you know that would affect the least amount of people,” said Scott Slingerland with the Coalition for Appropriate Transportation.<\/p>\n
LANTA went over a little more than 10 routes that could see changes in January.<\/p>\n
Frequency could be reduced on certain routes.<\/p>\n
“I hope they do a good job, but either way I take the bus every day. It’s the same thing they do every year- review and then implement it,” said Ian Neubauer.<\/p>\n
LANTA manager of communications and strategic initiatives Darryl Lightner said there were a lot of good comments at the meeting that can be taken into consideration.<\/p>\n
“As we look at the type of service we provide and what routes should be altered based off those feedbacks. We can look at the numbers, but sometimes there’s a deeper picture to what people say whether they need to get to work and things like that,” said Lightner.<\/p>\n
LANTA said questions and comments about the proposal can be sent to surveycomments@lantabus.com<\/a><\/p>\n “We never want to reduce service. Unfortunately we’re in that position that where we need to make the system as efficient as possible and it was based on productivity,” said Lightner.<\/p>\n Another meeting to discuss these proposed cuts will be held Monday at 5 p.m. at 60 W Broad St, Bethlehem, PA 18018.<\/p>\n
