ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Allentown City Council is pushing back against a property tax increase proposed by the mayor.<\/p>\n
Wednesday night, council members rejected a 4% bump on property taxes.<\/p>\n
Instead, they approved balancing next year’s budget with $1.5 million from the city’s cash reserves.<\/p>\n
Opponents say they didn’t want to increase property taxes the same year trash fees are already going up.<\/p>\n
A final budget vote is set for Dec. 10.<\/p>\n
