WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2013\u00a0President\u00a0Donald\u00a0Trump is calling for some\u00a0Democratic\u00a0members in\u00a0Congress to be arrested and receive the death penalty after a video\u00a0those Democrats\u00a0released.\u00a0Those members told servicemembers and intelligence\u00a0officials they\u00a0are allowed to refuse illegal orders.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In a series of social media posts and reposts from\u00a0President\u00a0Trump,\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0calling for the\u00a0arrest\u00a0and death penalty for\u00a0some Democratic\u00a0Congressional members\u00a0after what they\u00a0said this in a video\u00a0recently<\/a>:\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u00a0know you are under enormous stress and pressure right now,\u201d said the Democratic members\u00a0in the video, which include: Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D- MI), Sen. Mark Kelly (D-\u00a0AZ), Rep. Jason Crow (D- CO), Rep. Maggie Goodlander (D- NH), Rep. Chris Deluzio (D- PA)\u00a0and Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D- PA).\u00a0\u201cAmericans trust their\u00a0military\u00a0but that trust is at risk. This administration is pitting our uniformed military and intelligence community professionals against\u00a0American\u00a0citizens. Like us, you all swore an oath to protect and defend this\u00a0constitution.\u00a0Right\u00a0now\u00a0the threats to our constitution\u00a0aren\u2019t\u00a0just coming from abroad, but from right here at home. Our laws are\u00a0clear,\u00a0you can refuse illegal orders. You can refuse illegal orders.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n In the video, these members\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0name any specific actions the military or intelligence officials have been told to carry out that would be considered illegal.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Trump wrote on social media\u00a0in part:\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL<\/a>. Each one of these traitors to our\u00a0Country should be ARRESTED AND\u00a0PUT ON TRIAL.\u201d\u00a0In another message: \u201cSEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by\u00a0DEATH!<\/a>\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The\u00a0President\u2019s messages sent shockwaves among\u00a0Democrats.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cHe is not saying this in a\u00a0vacuum, he\u00a0is throwing a match into a country filled with political extreme gasoline,\u201d said Sen. Chuck Schumer (D- NY), Senate Minority Leader. \u201cIt is\u00a0dangerous\u00a0it is devastating.
