The Allentown School District<\/a> will move forward with a major renovation of the Dieruff High School practice field after the school board approved additional design and planning for the project on Thursday, the district said in a news release. <\/p>\n

The comprehensive upgrades to the practice field at 820 E. Tilghman St. will include a new field house, improved weight and restroom facilities, portable bleachers, upgraded lighting, soil rehabilitation, a synthetic turf field, and a new track with expanded opportunities for track and field events. Early cost estimates place the project between $15 million and $18 million.<\/p>\n

Construction is expected to begin in spring 2026. The district will begin the design, bidding, and procurement process from late November through December, with additional approvals anticipated in early January.<\/p>\n

Superintendent Carol D. Birks said the investment represents progress for students and athletic programs. <\/p>\n
