Former All-Pro wide receiver Josh Gordon<\/a> revealed that former Pittsburgh Steelers <\/a>quarterback Russell Wilson<\/a> nearly recruited him to come play for the team last year. <\/p>\n

Gordon, who last played in the NFL in 2022 with the Tennessee Titans, nearly had an NFL comeback with the Steelers, but decided against it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI ended up staying in Seattle for two years and getting to meet Russell,\u201d Gordon said<\/a> on the Glory Daze podcastl. \u201cAnd Russell, he even called me wanting to go. He\u2019s like, \u2018Hey man, let me see if I can get you in with the Pittsburgh Steelers\u2019 when I was already done and out of Tennessee.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gordon, now 34, is unlikely to play in the NFL again despite the highs of his career. He played just two games in 2022 with the Titans and never put anything down on the stat sheet.<\/p>\n

Drafted in the supplemental draft in 2012, Gordon immediately lit it up in Cleveland out of Baylor. He had 805 yards in his rookie season before being suspended multiple times for violating the NFL\u2019s substance-abuse policy.<\/p>\n

After being banned indefinitely for the entire 2015 season, Gordon did not get approved to return to the league until 2018 with the New England Patriots. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Steelers still need a wide receiver at some point in the near future. They have not found that answer just yet despite hunting around the entire NFL. <\/p>\n
