The holidays can be a tough time for those in need.<\/p>\n
More than a dozen local organizations and businesses are stepping in to make things a little bit better, serving up free meals to ensure people are fed this Thanksgiving season.<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s a list of free holiday meals and food giveaways in the area:<\/p>\n
Sunday<\/p>\n
\u2022 Common Ground Recovery Community at Trinity Lutheran Church, 527 Washington St., will host worship and a free Thanksgiving meal. Worship will begin at 2 p.m. and the meal at 3.<\/p>\n
Monday<\/p>\n
\u2022 One Luv Outreach will host a turkey distribution at Washington Towers, 50 N. Fourth St., at 2 p.m.<\/p>\n
Tuesday<\/p>\n
\u2022 The Salvation Army, 301 S. Fifth St., will hand out free Thanksgiving meals starting at 7:30 a.m.<\/p>\n
\u2022 South of Penn, 339 S. Seventh St., will host a Thanksgiving dinner from noon to 2 p.m.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Hope Lutheran Church, 601 N. Front St., is providing Thanksgiving dinner to those in need at 5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
\u2022 New Heightz Grocery Store, 209 N. Sixth St., will be giving away turkeys from 6 to 7 p.m.<\/p>\n
Wednesday<\/p>\n
\u2022 New Heightz Grocery Store, 209 N. Sixth St., will host a Thanksgiving meal from noon to 1 p.m.<\/p>\n
\u2022 La Primera Iglesia Pentecostal El Lugar de Refugio, 206 S. Ninth St., will provide a Thanksgiving meal at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n
\u2022 The Conner Kleffel Memorial Annual Thanksgiving \u201cCount Your Blessings\u201d meal will be held at Leesport Farmer\u2019s Market, 312 Gernants Church Road, Ontelaunee Township, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Take-home meals will be provided to anyone who needs one.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Common Ground Recovery Community, 5 Wyomissing Blvd., Wyomissing, will host a free Thanksgiving meal at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n
Thursday<\/p>\n
\u2022 The Marvel Ranch, 359 Penn St., will host a Thanksgiving meal sponsored by the Reading High School basketball team starting at 8 a.m.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Holy Trinity Church of God, 130 W. Buttonwood St., will host a free Thanksgiving meal from 10 a.m. to noon.<\/p>\n
\u2022 JD\u2019s Steaks, 3998 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, free Thanksgiving meals can be picked up between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.<\/p>\n
\u2022 The 5th Street Barbershop, 146 S. Fifth St., will host a Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Kennedy House, 532 Spruce St., will host a Thanksgiving meal from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Fat Boyz pizzeria, 953 N. 12th St., will host a free Thanksgiving meal starting at noon.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Haymakers, 709 Walnut St., is hosting a free meal for all members from 2 to 6 p.m. Free takeout meals will also be provided for people experiencing homelessness.<\/p>\n
Saturday<\/p>\n
\u2022 Impacto Comunitario, Ninth and Penn streets, will host a Thanksgiving dinner at 12:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
