{"id":41822,"date":"2025-11-22T18:10:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-22T18:10:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/41822\/"},"modified":"2025-11-22T18:10:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-22T18:10:08","slug":"pennsylvania-latest-to-post-record-icasino-revenue-in-october","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/41822\/","title":{"rendered":"Pennsylvania latest to post record iCasino revenue in October"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The sports betting handle in Pennsylvania also reached an all-time high last month. <\/p>\n<p>Revenue in Pennsylvania from online casino operators reached a record $251.1 million during October, while the state also saw sports betting revenue rocket 121.7% year-on-year after handle hit an all-time high.<\/p>\n<p>Gross gambling revenue in Pennsylvania from all types of commercial gaming reached $597 million in October, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov\/news-and-transparency\/press-release\/record-igaming-revenue-highlights-pa-gaming-control-boards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB)<\/a>. This surpassed the <a href=\"https:\/\/igamingbusiness.com\/finance\/pennsylvania-gambling-revenue-october\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">same month last year<\/a> by 20.2% and was 11.4% higher than <a href=\"https:\/\/igamingbusiness.com\/finance\/pennsylvania-gambling-revenue-september\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">this September<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While record iGaming revenue was the headline figure in the month, the sports betting haul also turned heads. This followed a disappointing September when sports betting revenue fell to a six-month low.<\/p>\n<p>Pennsylvania iCasino revenue jumps 32.8%<\/p>\n<p>Starting with online casinos, revenue in this segment was 32.8% higher year-on-year. It was also a new state record, surpassing the previous all-time high \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/igamingbusiness.com\/finance\/pennsylvania-gambling-revenue-march\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">$238.2 million in March 2025<\/a> \u2013 by 5.4%.<\/p>\n<p>Of this, $190.8 million came from online slots, 35.5% ahead of the previous year. Internet table games revenue climbed 25.7% to $57.7 million and online poker revenue was 13.6% higher at $2.5 million.<\/p>\n<p>Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course and its online gaming partners again led the market. Their monthly revenue reached $98.7 million, up 42.2% from last year.<\/p>\n<p>Valley Forge Casino Resort and partners remained second with $71.4 million, 37.5% ahead of October 2024. 40.8%. Rivers Casino Philadelphia completed the top three with $38.2 million, an increase of 15%.<\/p>\n<p>Pennsylvania was not the first state to report record revenue from the online sector in October. Both <a href=\"https:\/\/igamingbusiness.com\/finance\/new-jersey-igaming-record-october\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">New Jersey<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/igamingbusiness.com\/finance\/michigan-online-gambling-record-october\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Michigan<\/a> saw revenue reach new heights during the month.<\/p>\n<p>Record handle drives sports betting recovery<\/p>\n<p>Turning to sports betting, revenue more than doubled year-on-year during October to $60.7 million. This included $56.2 million from online betting and a further $4.5 million from retail sportsbooks across Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>This was helped by player spending reaching a record $968.5 million. This beat the previous high of <a href=\"https:\/\/igamingbusiness.com\/finance\/sports-betting-igaming-pennsylvania-record-november\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">$935.5 million in November 2024<\/a> and was ahead of October last year by 9%. Last month, $926.1 million was bet online and $42.4 million at retail locations.<\/p>\n<p>As such, monthly hold for the state stood at 6.27%.<\/p>\n<p>Looking to operators, DraftKings and Hollywood Casino at the Meadows climbed into top spot in October by posting $21.8 million off a $300.1 million handle, resulting in a 7.26% hold.<\/p>\n<p>FanDuel and Valley Forge Casino Resort, which typically lead, slipped to second. With $18.2 million in revenue from $357.6 million in bets, this left a hold of 5.09%. BetMGM and Hollywood Casino Morgantown remained third with $4 million off a $59.6 million handle for a hold of 6.71%.<\/p>\n<p>Land-based slots remain king in Pennsylvania<\/p>\n<p>While expansion within the iGaming market shows no signs of slowing in Pennsylvania, land-based slots remain a key source of gambling revenue. In October, revenue in this sector was 1.4% higher year-on-year at $203.5 million.<\/p>\n<p>Retail table games revenue edged up 3% to $76.1 million but video gaming terminal dipped 1% to $3.5 million. The PGCB also noted a 1.1% drop in sports fantasy contest revenue to $2.1 million.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of tax for state and local governments, $252.3 million was collected during the month. Of this, online casinos provided $112.7 million, sports betting $21.8 million, land-based slots $102.8 million and retail table games $12.8 million.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The sports betting handle in Pennsylvania also reached an all-time high last month.
