The recruiting process was also something he was thrilled to put to an end.

“It feels like a huge relief,” Webb said. “I’ve been working toward this ever since I can look back at it. It’s been a very stressful, long process if I’m being completely honest. I’m really happy and relieved that I found a really good place to call home for the next four years.”

As long as the process can be, it didn’t take long for Lake Erie to feel like home to Webb. He visited campus earlier this month and immediately knew it was his future home.

“The coaching staff by far,” Webb said on what stood out. “What they’re trying to reach and the history that these new coaches have is unbelievable. Their philosophies on everything are amazing. The campus was beautiful, and all of their athletic facilities were amazing.

“As soon as we wrapped up that visit, I knew I was going to go home and talk to my parents and make a decision to end up playing baseball at Lake Erie.”

Webb had a junior season to remember. He batted .474 with 36 hits and 34 RBI and earned Division V first-team All-Ohio honors. What we’re seeing now is something he has visualized and worked hard for since the age of 10.

At a young age, Webb was admittingly a basketball kid. It’s a sport he still loves to this day, but he didn’t play last year to focus on baseball. It was a tough decision that paid off. His work ethic is a huge reason why he’s moving on to the college ranks.

“It just shows you don’t have to be the strongest, biggest or fastest,” Webb said. “If you put your head down and just work as hard as you can to get to a certain place, God has a plan that everything is going to work out.”

Webb is the second Keystone player to commit this fall after junior Ryan Younglas committed to oledo in October. Both players were named All-Ohio last year on the way to leading the Wildcats to a district final appearance.

With Webb and Younglas returning this season along with a strong core around them, Keystone is poised for another big year this spring.

This has been a special offseason to say the least considering the Wildcats’ senior leader now has a college home. He’s looking forward to what his teammates and the younger players in the program can do next.

“It’s really exciting. It’s really good for the program,” Webb said. “Not just for this team, but for teams in the future to know they can do it.”

As a high school student, putting pen to paper never felt so good for Tucker Webb.
