Danielle Chamberlain was second with 6.58 digs per contest while Jill Sharer was fifth with an average of 6.14. \u2026 Neal McGee and Charlie Nanick scored 31 of their 41 points in the first half as the University of Scranton withstood a pair of second-half runs to defeat Binghamton University, 63-56 at West Gym. \u2026 Nate Harvey rolled a perfect game at Green Ridge Lanes to highlight action in the Tribune Classic Bowling League. \u2026 Dunmore native Joe Mooney announces he will return for at least one more season as groundskeeper at Boston\u2019s famed Fenway Park. \u2026 East Stroudsburg\u2019s James Mungro breaks the single-season rushing record previously held by Honesdale\u2019s Terrin Ash, who previously held the mark of 2,669, in a win over Stroudsburg. \u2026 After three consecutive 10-win seasons and back-to-back District 2-12 championships, Susquehanna football coach Dick Bagnall resigned after 20 years at the helm of the Sabers program. He posted a 139-82-3 career mark.<\/p>\n<p>20 years ago<\/p>\n<p>Rider University freshman Lamar Johnson, a Scranton graduate, was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week. He scored a game-high 19 points, had four rebounds and two steals in a loss to Drexel. \u2026\u00a0 Colgate senior linebacker Jared Nepa, a Carbondale Area graduate, was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year. He led the team with 89 tackles (58 solo). He also led the league with five interceptions, three of which he returned for touchdowns to tie a school record for career INT touchdown returns. \u2026 East Stroudsburg wide receiver Evan Prall, a West Scranton graduate, leads NCAA Division II with 75 receptions for 1,569 yards, the seventh-best single-season total in NCAA Division II history. He also had 20 touchdowns. \u2026 The Times-Tribune announces its fall sports All-Region Teams. The Players of the Year were: Abington Heights LB John Habeeb and Carbondale Area RB Zach Lasavage (football); Wallenpaupack\u2019s Kevin Sives and Jessica Hunter (cross country); Abington Heights\u2019 Matt Baker (golf); Scranton Prep\u2019s Alex Sebia (girls tennis); Abington Heights\u2019 Eric Cava (boys soccer); Delaware Valley\u2019s Samantha Morgan (girls volleyball).<\/p>\n<p>10 years ago<\/p>\n<p>Old Forge senior Cooper Califano rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns in the Blue Devils\u2019 28-21 win over Wellsboro in the PIAA Class 1A first round. \u2026 Abington Heights\u2019 Colin Klingman (Division I), North Pocono\u2019s Riley Lougee (Division II), Lakeland\u2019s Graeme Nichols (Division III) are voted Lackawanna League Boys Soccer All-Star MVPs in their respective divisions. Scranton Prep\u2019s Cara Griffith (Division I), Wallenpaupack\u2019s Skylar Wirth (Division II) and Montrose\u2019s Madison Gilhool (Division III) are named the girls MVPs. \u2026 North Pocono graduate B.J. Gallis is inducted into the Lafayette College Sports Hall of Fame. The defensive back made 33 starts for the Leopards and finished his career with 309 tackles and 11 interceptions. \u2026 The Times-Tribune announces its fall sports All-Region teams.
