{"id":42926,"date":"2025-11-24T05:32:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-24T05:32:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/42926\/"},"modified":"2025-11-24T05:32:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T05:32:08","slug":"north-pocono-scranton-prep-lackawanna-trail-end-runs-in-state-playoffs-scranton-times-tribune","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/42926\/","title":{"rendered":"North Pocono, Scranton Prep, Lackawanna Trail end runs in state playoffs \u2013 Scranton Times-Tribune"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>North Pocono, Scranton Prep and Lackawanna Trail losses ended the high school season in the Lackawanna Football Conference.<\/p>\n<p>It was a historic season for all three programs.<\/p>\n<p>North Pocono won a school-record 13 games before falling to Cardinal O\u2019Hara, 28-6, on Friday night in the Class 4A quarterfinals. The Trojans are the 22nd team in LIAA history to win at least 13 games and won their first PIAA playoff game with their 40-36 win over Bishop Shanahan in the first round.<\/p>\n<p>They also won their first District 2 Class 4A championship since 2016 and the LFC Division I title.<\/p>\n<p>Josiah Gray finished with 1,164 yards rushing and scored 15 touchdowns. Senior quarterback Chase Zimmerman completed 62 of 95 passes for 930 yards and nine touchdowns and had a passer rating of 168.2.<\/p>\n<p>Cole West, a junior, had 27 receptions for 496 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 631 yards on 83 carries and nine touchdowns. He completed two of three passes for 29 yards and a touchdown and returned two kickoffs for touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>Defensively, West had nine interceptions.<\/p>\n<p>West is the school-record holder with 1,479 yards in his career and ranks second on the school\u2019s list with 85 receptions. (JASON ARDAN \/ STAFF PHOTOGRAPHER)<\/p>\n<p>Scranton Prep recovered from an 0-3 start to the season and ended with an 8-6 overall mark after a 42-14 loss to Northwestern Lehigh in the Class 3A quarterfinals. It was the third straight loss to Northwestern Lehigh in the state playoffs, and it puts the program\u2019s record at 5-9 in the state playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>The Cavaliers won their fifth consecutive District 2 Class 3A championship and ninth since 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Coach Terry Gallagher won his 100th career game this season and has a record of 103-24.<\/p>\n<p>Will McPartland ran for 984 yards and 28 touchdowns, completed 91 of 149 passes for 1,603 yards and 12 touchdowns for a passer rating of 168.6 and missed the first three games of the season.<\/p>\n<p>In his career, McPartland, a former tailback, had 2,239 yards on 364 carries with 51 touchdowns. (REBECCA PARTICKA\/STAFF PHOTOGRAPHER)<\/p>\n<p>Lackawanna Trail closed the season with a 12-2 record after its 52-40 loss to Belmont Charter in the Class 1A quarterfinals. The defeat puts the Lions\u2019 state-playoff record at 16-15.<\/p>\n<p>The Lions won at least 12 games for the fourth time in program history. Head coach Steve Jervis improved his career record to 159-103 in 21 seasons, which includes four seasons at Tunkhannock. At Lackawanna Trail, he has a record of 136-64 with eight District 2 championships.<\/p>\n<p>Lackawanna Trail had a three-year record of 36-5.<\/p>\n<p>Isaac Ryon set the LIAA record with 2,876 yards rushing, 49 rushing touchdowns, 54 total touchdowns and 354 total points.<\/p>\n<p>He is the program\u2019s leader in career rushing yards with 4,969, rushing touchdowns with 82 and total touchdowns with 89. He scored 618 points, which includes 10 extra points and five field goals.<\/p>\n<p>This season, Ryon accounted for 3,174 of the team\u2019s 5,231 yards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe heart, the desire and the competitiveness that he displayed make him a complete high school football player,\u201d Jervis said. \u201cHe was an incredibly tough kid and had great speed.
