United Way of Berks County has again exceeded its campaign goal, raising more than $11 million in donations this year.<\/p>\n
United Way officials revealed the 2025 campaign total surpassed its goal of $10.75 million at the nonprofit\u2019s annual victory celebration at the Redner\u2019s Event Center at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat an amazing journey this has been,\u201d campaign co-chairs Angel and Scott Helm said at the celebration Thursday. \u201cWe have met and worked with the best people in our community. All are driven by a strong community spirit and the desire to improve people\u2019s lives.\u201d<\/p>\n
United Way officials thanked donors for their support.<\/p>\n
\u201c2025 has been an exciting year, as we\u2019ve celebrated United Way\u2019s 100th anniversary,\u201d said Joni Naugle, the nonprofit\u2019s board chair. \u201cWe are deeply grateful to each of you for your commitment to carrying our work forward.\u201d<\/p>\n
All money raised will support health and human service needs in the coming year, impacting 190,000 local people, United Way said in a release.<\/p>\n
The organization\u2019s 80-plus programs, initiatives and grants tackle issues like school readiness, reading proficiency, financial stability, and helping people meet food and health needs.<\/p>\n
Those initiatives include vital programs like Meals on Wheels, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Safe Berks and United Way\u2019s 211 phone line that connects residents seeking help with community services.<\/p>\n
Some lucky donors also walked away from the celebration as winners of campaign incentives, including Eric Wilson of Fromm Electric Supply Co., who won a brand new Toyota Corolla Cross, courtesy of Kelly Toyota Hamburg, Live United partners and premier sponsors.<\/p>\n
