ALLENTOWN, Pa. – An incident in which a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday night<\/a> has been ruled a homicide.<\/p>\n

Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio made the declaration Monday. <\/p>\n

He identified the victim as 29-year-old Rigoberto E. Hernandez Arias, of Allentown.<\/p>\n

Hernandez Arias died of blunt force injuries in a collision with a van or delivery-type vehicle; the manner of death was homicide, Buglio said.<\/p>\n

Hernadez Arias’ employer, East Coast Facilities Inc., has set up a GoFundMe to help his family<\/a>. He and his wife have three children ages 11 to 3, according to the GoFundMe.<\/p>\n

Police have released few details and given no indication if the striking vehicle remained at the scene or fled.<\/p>\n

It happened about 7:55 p.m. Friday in the 2400 block of South Fourth Street.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, Allentown police Capt. Christopher Diehl said he could not release information on the striking vehicle \u2014 or whether the driver has been identified or is cooperating \u2014 because it remains “an active and ongoing” investigation.<\/p>\n

The victim was pronounced dead at 8:43 p.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Buglio said.<\/p>\n
