BETHLEHEM, Pa. \u2014 Exercise just may be the last thing on someone\u2019s mind post-Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n

But after more than 1,000 people flocked to Historic Bethlehem last year for the Turkey Trot 5K & Fun Walk<\/a>, organizers look to build on that success with the event\u2019s 23rd showing on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The scene is set for Saturday morning, Nov. 29, starting at the 1869 Luckenbach Mill, 459 Old York Road, in the Colonial Industrial Quarter.<\/p>\n

It\u2019ll be a scenic route for walkers, joggers and runners through Historic Bethlehem and its renowned Moravian Church Settlements \u2014 Bethlehem’s World Heritage site.<\/p>\n

And even a bit of fun for furry friends and their owners.<\/p>\n

“The popular costume contest, previously reserved only for pets, has been expanded to include race participants as well, with runners and walkers encouraged to dress up in their favorite holiday or race-themed attire.”<\/p>\n

\u201cNew for 2025, the popular costume contest, previously reserved only for pets, has been expanded to include race participants as well, with runners and walkers encouraged to dress up in their favorite holiday or race-themed attire,\u201d according to a press release from Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites.<\/p>\n

Awards will go to \u201cthe most spirited individual and group costumes,\u201d with judges looking for creativity, best pet\/handler team and the Turkey Trot theme. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s free to register for the pet costume contest; however, owners must be registered for the Turkey Trot event. Costume contestants are asked to meet at the stage at 8:15 a.m., with judging to start at 8:30 a.m.<\/p>\n

The first race is at 9 a.m.<\/p>\n

Turkey Trot 5K & Fun Walk 2024 brought out more than 1,000 participants. Profits from the event benefit Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites and the local nonprofit\u2019s \u201chistoric preservation work and promotion of three centuries of unique history in our community.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 5K run and competitive walk registration costs $40 through 5 p.m. Nov. 28 and $45 through race day, Nov. 29, with a $4.90 service fee when paying online.<\/p>\n

Tickets for the 1.7-mile fun walk are $25 with a $3 sign-up fee for online purchase. They will see a $5 increase in base price, like the 5K, on race day.<\/p>\n
