A woman was shot Wednesday evening during a dispute between two families who live next to each other, according to Philadelphia police.<\/p>\n
Officers conducted the investigation in the pouring rain along Ogontz Avenue, near 69th Avenue, in the city’s West Oak Lane section.<\/p>\n
Police said the shooting happened at around 5 p.m. after an ongoing argument between two families who are neighbors that live in homes that are attached.<\/p>\n
Investigators said the family of the 28-year-old victim was about to take her to the hospital in a private vehicle when police arrived but officers told them to put her in the patrol car so police could rush her to Einstein Medical.<\/p>\n
Her life likely depended on how quickly police could get her there.<\/p>\n
She was shot in the side of her chest and initially placed in critical condition, but doctors were able to save her life, according to police.<\/p>\n
Investigators said they aren’t sure why the dispute escalated into a shooting but said they know shots were fired from two separate locations near each other.<\/p>\n
“So, we know five shots were fired from two separate caliber semi-automatic weapons,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small. “We did find some private surveillance cameras in the immediate area, so that will be part of our investigation.”<\/p>\n
Police are questioning two men, including one who had a gun on him at the scene. However, police said they aren’t sure if he was one of the shooters.<\/p>\n
Officers said that man is cooperating.<\/p>\n
