It\u2019s a big bucket of water,\u201d Trent said. \u201cAnd if you\u2019re going to push all the water to one side by the wind, it\u2019s going to lower on one side and raise on the other. So if it goes six feet down in Toledo, it\u2019s going to go six feet up in Buffalo. We\u2019re just in the middle of it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Even in the middle ground of Northeast Ohio, high winds from Wednesday into Thursday exposed areas of Lake Erie not normally visible.<\/p>\n

“The beach is different absolutely every day,\u201d Alltmont said. \u201cIt\u2019s enjoyable, it\u2019s relaxing, [there\u2019s] a thrill of the hunt sometimes.\u201d<\/p>\n
She used her hands to sift through pebbles and shells to find pieces of glass smoothed and frosted by years of lake water.<\/p>\n
“There are lots of places along Lake Erie where it used to be a community\u2019s trash dump,\u201d she explained, pointing out shards of brick and the neck of an old Coca-Cola bottle.<\/p>\n
