Fountain Ave. in Springfield. <\/p>\n<p>Explore<a class=\"headline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.springfieldnewssun.com\/news\/springfields-school-of-innovation-to-close-consolidate-with-springfield-high-school\/REAFRXX6YRC6LGPYBXN6WLUY3Q\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Springfield\u2019s School of Innovation to close, consolidate with Springfield High School<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"3\">Dietlein, who has been a professional working actress since the 1980s, brought \u201cSaint Nick of Bethlehem\u201d to the State a year ago when it was new, one of around 30 theaters in the country showing it. The response was so positive she was moved to get with State management to revisit the magic this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"4\">\u201cPeople really, really loved it. This year we\u2019ve gotten a new distributor and can show it more places, so we\u2019re really excited to be bringing it back to Springfield especially,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"5\">The film was inspired by a man named Nick from Bethlehem, Pa. who lost his son, but finds his way back through the holiday spirit, Santa and reuniting with a former love interest, appropriately named Mary, played by Dietlein. Daniel Roebuck, who Dietlein has worked with and been friends with for many years, stars as Nick and co-directed and co-produced. <\/p>\n<p>Explore<a class=\"headline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.springfieldnewssun.com\/news\/clark-state-president-finalists-talk-future-opportunities-potential-improvements\/WWNRSFEDMFA2ZOBI5GSSTUV6BA\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Clark State president finalists talk future opportunities, potential improvements<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"8\">Seeing audiences enjoy the film has been part of the joy for Dietlein. She met a single mom who was sobbing during the film, shared her feelings with Dietlein, who helped the woman\u2019s daughter in where to start with her ambitions of working in the film industry. <\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"10\">\u201cPeople have been very moved by it,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s an amazing feeling if you can share the spotlight. It has a message we need in the world today about love, loss and learning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"11\">Dietlein got a similar response from a previous film with Roebuck, \u201cGetting Grace,\u201d she brought to Springfield in 2018. That depicted a spunky young lady with terminal cancer whose spirit lifted others despite her circumstances and some audience members were thankful for showing the reality they could connect with.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"12\">She looks forward to seeing many of her North classmates and friends and those who weren\u2019t able to make the \u201cSaint Nick of Bethlehem\u201d debut last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"13\">\u201cSaint Nick of Bethlehem\u201d is rated PG and appropriate for most audiences. <\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"14\">\u201cThe Fitzgerald Family Christmas\u201d was released in 2012, is rated PG-13 and for a more mature audience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"17\">That film, directed by and starring Ed Burns, is about a family of seven siblings reuniting with the father who walked out on them 20 years prior and is now ill. Dietlein, who plays one of the siblings, said it\u2019s about family dynamics yet still a lovely movie and a chance to see another side of her acting talent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"18\">One of Dietlein\u2019s wishes for the new year is the chance to show more of her work, hopefully here. \u201cThe Hail Mary\u201d is another film Roebuck wrote, directed and stars in and will be released in the winter of 2026 and has Dietlein playing a nun.<\/p>\n<p>Explore<a class=\"headline\" href=\"https:\/\/www.springfieldnewssun.com\/news\/lagonda-avenue-and-columbia-street-traffic-light-under-study-for-removal\/3LULWIBGJ5GJ5NY4266VKOE2YY\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Lagonda Avenue and Columbia Street traffic light under study for removal<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"20\">Another project shot this past summer, \u201cMedora: Empress of the Badlands,\u201d is scheduled for a spring release. This western drama is about the founding of a Dakota territory town in 1883 and Dietlein will play real-life figure Margaret Roberts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"21\">\u201cIt should be a yearly thing,\u201d Dietlein said. \u201cIt\u2019s nice to have the support of the State Theater, too. It\u2019s a great venue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-text \" data-index=\"22\">The State Theater will have free Monday movie nights with a holiday animated classic and live action movie classic at 7 p.m. the following dates: Dec. 8, \u201cFrosty the Snowman\u201d and \u201cNational Lampoon\u2019s Christmas Vacation\u201d; Dec. 15, \u201cRudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer\u201d and \u201cElf\u201d; and Dec. 22, \u201cA Charlie Brown Christmas\u201d and \u201cHome Alone.\u201d For more information, go to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.springfieldstatetheater.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">springfieldstatetheater.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Admission is free.
