The Luzerne County Historical Society will host a holiday program, \u201cChristmas at the Historic Swetland Homestead,\u201d on Saturday and Sunday, Dec 6 and 7.<\/p>\n
The event at 885 Wyoming Avenue in Wyoming will feature both modern and historic takes on the holiday season. Inside the house, guests will be transported to 1825 and will learn all about the holiday season 200 years ago.\u00a0Visitors can see what passed for decorations and learn all about the traditions of this new celebration, Christmas Day.<\/p>\n
Outside the house, there will be present-day Christmas features \u2014 Santa Claus and his helper, a choice of on-site crafts for the kids, and a selection of local food trucks. The food trucks onsite will feature Belgian waffles, Caribbean cuisine, and more.<\/p>\n
Visitors can also bring their letters for Santa and get presents from his helper. The Darling House on-site will have a wide array of last-minute gift ideas in the gift shop.<\/p>\n
The event runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Tickets for LCHS members are $5, and nonmembers are $10 each \u2013 children under 5 are free. Tickets include tours of the house, visits with Santa, and the children\u2019s crafts.<\/p>\n
