{"id":4870,"date":"2025-10-16T23:35:24","date_gmt":"2025-10-16T23:35:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/4870\/"},"modified":"2025-10-16T23:35:24","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T23:35:24","slug":"former-erie-pa-branch-284-president-william-bill-mccommons-dies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/4870\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Erie, PA Branch 284 President William \u2018Bill\u2019 McCommons dies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>   <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nalc.org\/news\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>   <\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n      September 09, 2025<br \/>\n      Former Erie, PA Branch 284 President William \u2018Bill\u2019 McCommons dies<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"height: 335px; width: 200px; float: left; margin: 5px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nalc.org\/news\/nalc-updates\/body\/02212c86-2ca5-4f44-928a-54497f227641.jfif\" alt=\"\"\/>NALC is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of William \u201cBill\u201d McCommons, a dedicated letter carrier and longtime union activist, who died on Aug. 23 at the age of 59.<\/p>\n<p>Brother McCommons began his career with the Postal Service in 1992 and served for 33 years. He was a proud member of Erie, PA Branch 284, where he held several leadership roles, including shop steward and branch president.<\/p>\n<p>As branch president, Bill worked tirelessly to protect the rights and well-being of NALC members in Erie. His leadership, integrity and compassion left a lasting impact on his union brothers and sisters, and his kindness, humor and generous spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his wife, Laura; daughters, Bethanie and Emily; stepchildren, Brian, Eric and Tyler; his grandchildren; and his siblings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBrother McCommons was a dedicated leader and tireless advocate for his fellow carriers,\u201d NALC President Brian L. Renfroe said. \u201cHis commitment to our union and the members of Branch 284 will not be forgotten.
