PITTSBURGH, Dec. 1, 2025\u00a0\u2014 For more than 100 years, the American Heart Association has committed to advancing health and hope for everyone, everywhere. This year, through the Heart of Pittsburgh\u2019s Heart Ball campaign, Jason Cannon, senior vice president at CBRE and volunteer chair, will lead community-wide efforts to ensure Pittsburghers have the opportunity for a full, healthy life.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Heart Ball celebrates hope and progress made possible by the dedication and passion of those who support the Association\u2019s mission. These efforts include the relentless pursuit of scientific discovery, public policy change,\u00a0equitable\u00a0health for\u00a0all\u00a0and education that empowers individuals to take control of their health.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Cannon is a lifelong Pittsburgher and a respected leader in the commercial real estate community. Known for his\u00a0client-first\u00a0approach and deep market knowledge, he has built a career advising some of the region\u2019s top retailers, entrepreneurs, and property owners. His commitment to health, however, extends beyond his professional life into his personal journey.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cFor my wife Monica and me, our involvement with the American Heart Association is deeply personal,\u201d\u00a0said Cannon.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s inspired by the strength and tenacity of our son\u00a0Grayson.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Grayson was born with a heart murmur caused by an atrial and ventricular septal defect (VSD). Though asymptomatic and thriving, doctors\u00a0monitored\u00a0him closely until age nine, when an MRI revealed his heart was\u00a0enlarged\u00a0and surgery was necessary. Grayson underwent open-heart surgery, recovered remarkably fast, and was home within two days. Today,\u00a0nearly two\u00a0years later, he is healthy, active in sports and only needs checkups every two years,\u00a0a blessing his family deeply cherishes.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI am honored to serve as the 2026 Heart of Pittsburgh Heart Ball Chair,\u201d Cannon continued. \u201cI look forward to working with our outstanding team of volunteers and the American Heart Association to remove barriers to health, invest in groundbreaking research, deliver impactful education and advocate for healthy policies.
