LEHIGH TWP., Pa. – A crash in Lehigh Township, Northampton County closed a stretch of Route 248 early Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n
County dispatchers said it happened on the 3900 block of Lehigh Drive in the \u201cS\u201d turns around 10:45 a.m.<\/p>\n
The crash occurred in front of a township firefighter in his travels, a fire official said. With the assistance of a passerby, both were able to rapidly remove the driver from the vehicle as it was catching fire.<\/p>\n
At least one person was taken to the local hospital. That person’s condition is not known.<\/p>\n
The Lehigh Twp. Volunteer Fire Co. said that “without the immediate actions of these two individuals and having a crew at station just returning from another call, we would have a much worse result.”<\/p>\n
Officials extend thanks to those in the public that stopped to help save this person\u2019s life.<\/p>\n
